CISE

Certificate in International Secondary Education



This programme aims to provide opportunity for local students to receive quality international secondary education that models the curriculum of International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).


CISE Program Structure

  • The duration of the course is 600 hours (10 months)
  • Students can choose from seven offered courses
  • Students are required to study a minimum of six subjects
  • Students can choose to study all six subjects together or individually
  • Students are required to obtain a minimum of 50% to earn the CISE

Subjects Offered

English A (First Language)

The English A (First Language) course aims to develop students' ability to read, understand and respond to material from a variety of sources orally and in writing, matching style to audience and purpose. It includes a wide range of reading and writing materials and is suitable for students who already have a solid foundation in English.


English as a second language

Designed for students who are either obtaining their secondary education through English as a medium of instruction, or who are studying English in order to enhance their future educational or employment prospects.


English Literature

The English Literature course aims to provide an enjoyable and stimulating introduction to the subject. A selection of prose, drama and poetry from around the world allows students to explore, analyze and enjoy a wide choice of set texts.



Biology

Designed for students who want to develop a knowledge and understanding of biological facts, concepts and principles, while developing experimental skills. Students will also learn to form hypotheses and design experiments to test them.



Chemistry

Designed for students who want to develop an understanding of the unifying patters and themes of chemistry, as well as experimental and investigative skills based on correct and safe laboratory techniques. Students will gain an appreciation of scientific methods and learn to form hypotheses and design experiments to test them.



Economics

Designed for students who want to develop a sound understanding of economic issues, problems and possible solutions. Students will learn to interpret and evaluate economic data in order to make reasoned arguments and informed judgments, and will be able to participate effectively in society as citizens, producers and consumers.



History

This course aims to foster a knowledge and understanding of selected periods and aspects of history, exploring the significance of historical events, people, changes and issues. It also instructs students in basic historiographical methodology and is designed to instill a lifelong interest in the past.



Mathematics

Designed for students who want to develop a foundation in mathematical skills and develop their knowledge and understanding of how to use and apply mathematical techniques and concepts to solve problems.



Physics

Designed for students who want to develop their scientific knowledge and skills as well as foster an appreciation of the practical nature of physics. Students will also gain an appreciation of scientific methods and learn to form hypotheses and design experiments to test them.



Putonghua

Designed for students who want to develop understanding and use of the spoken and written forms of Putonghua in a range of familiar and practical contexts, and for a variety of purposes.



Fees

The programme fees range from $72,000 for 6 subjects to $120,000 for 10 subjects payable by 10 installments in a 10 month period.
