French

The Language at the Heart of Europe

French is one of the world’s major international languages. It is spoken by over 200 million people across the globe. A knowledge of French is important to enhance your ability to communicate in a non-English speaking country.

French is the second most frequently taught language in the world after English. French, alongside English, is the official working language of the United Nations, UNESCO, NATO, the International Olympic Comity and the International Red Cross. French is also the principle working language at the European Court of Justice, the European Tribunal of First Instance and the Press Room at the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium.

The prestige of French art, music, fashion, food, and cinema makes French one of the most culturally important foreign language in the world today. Do you love movies? France is one of the most prolific producers of international films. When you understand French, you don't have to rely on subtitles to enjoy a French film. Think about the Cannes Festival and all the cinematic possibilities that the French language could open up to you.
